01
Introduction
who we are and what this document covers

This Privacy Policy applies to the Snipply mobile application (the "App"), developed and published by an individual developer. Snipply is a personal code snippet manager designed for developers on Android.

This document explains what information we handle, how we handle it, and what rights you have. We encourage you to read it in full — it is brief, because our privacy practices are straightforward.

"Snipply was designed from the ground up to work entirely offline. No server, no account, no tracking — just a private tool that respects your code and your privacy."

If you have any questions about this policy, you may contact us at the email address provided in the Contact section below.

02
Information We Collect
spoiler: nothing at all

Snipply does not collect, record, transmit, or process any personal information whatsoever — from you, your device, or your usage of the App.

We do not collect:

  • Names, email addresses, usernames, or any account information
  • Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or hardware serial numbers
  • IP addresses or network information of any kind
  • Location data — precise or approximate
  • Behavioral data, usage analytics, or event tracking
  • Crash reports or diagnostic logs
  • The content of your code snippets, titles, tags, or folders
  • Any data from your clipboard, camera, microphone, or contacts

The App functions entirely without an internet connection. No outbound network requests are made at any point during normal operation.

03
How Your Data Is Stored
local, encrypted by android, under your control

All data you create within Snipply — including snippets, folders, tags, and settings — is stored exclusively in a local database on your device using Hive, a lightweight offline key-value store.

  • Your data never leaves your device through the App
  • All app data is stored in Android's private app storage sandbox, inaccessible to other apps
  • Data is protected by Android's built-in filesystem encryption on supported devices
  • No cloud sync, no remote backup, no external storage is involved
  • Deleting the App from your device permanently deletes all associated data

You retain full ownership and control of your data at all times. We have no mechanism to access, retrieve, or delete your data — because we never receive it.

04
App Permissions
what we ask for and why

Snipply requests the absolute minimum permissions necessary to function. Below is the complete list of Android permissions declared in the App manifest:

android.permission.VIBRATE — used solely to provide haptic feedback on certain UI interactions (e.g., confirming a deletion). No data is accessed or transmitted.

The following permissions are not requested or used:

  • INTERNET — the App makes no network requests
  • ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION — no location data is used
  • READ_CONTACTS / WRITE_CONTACTS — no contact access
  • CAMERA — no camera access
  • RECORD_AUDIO — no microphone access
  • READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — no file system access outside app sandbox
  • READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_MEDIA_VIDEO — no media access
  • SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM / USE_EXACT_ALARM — no alarms or notifications
05
Third-Party Services
we use none

Snipply does not integrate any third-party SDKs, services, or libraries that collect user data or communicate with external servers.

The App contains no:

  • Analytics platforms (e.g., Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude)
  • Advertising networks or ad SDKs (e.g., AdMob, Meta Audience Network)
  • Crash reporting services (e.g., Crashlytics, Sentry)
  • Social login SDKs (e.g., Google Sign-In, Facebook Login)
  • Remote configuration or A/B testing services
  • Cloud storage or sync services
  • Payment processors

All open-source libraries used in the App (Flutter framework, Hive, flutter_highlight, Provider, etc.) operate entirely locally and do not transmit data externally.

06
Children's Privacy
safe for all ages

Snipply does not knowingly collect any personal information from users of any age, including children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction).

Since the App collects no data whatsoever, it complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent international regulations by design.

If you believe a minor has provided personal information through the App in any way, please contact us immediately — although we emphasize that no such mechanism exists within the App.

07
Your Rights
gdpr, ccpa, and your full control

Since Snipply does not collect or process any personal data, conventional data rights (such as rights of access, erasure, or portability under GDPR or CCPA) are satisfied by default — there is no data held by us to act upon.

However, you have full practical control over your data:

  • Right to access: All your data is stored on your device and visible within the App at all times
  • Right to deletion: You can delete individual snippets, folders, or all data via the in-app settings. Uninstalling the App removes all data permanently.
  • Right to portability: Your data is stored locally and you may back it up using Android's native backup tools
  • Right to withdraw consent: Since no data processing consent is required, you may simply stop using the App at any time
08
Data Security
protected by design

The most secure data is data that is never transmitted. Because Snipply operates fully offline, there is no risk of data breaches, server-side vulnerabilities, or unauthorized remote access.

  • Data is stored in Android's private app sandbox, isolated from all other applications
  • Devices with screen lock enabled benefit from Android's full-disk or file-based encryption
  • No credentials, tokens, or authentication information is stored or transmitted
  • The App is built with release-mode code obfuscation and resource shrinking enabled via ProGuard

Physical access to an unlocked device by an unauthorized party is the primary security risk — the same risk that applies to all local-storage applications. We recommend enabling a secure screen lock on your device.

09
Changes to This Policy
how we'll notify you

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, applicable laws, or our practices. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page.

The most current version of this Privacy Policy is always available at this URL and within the App under Settings → Privacy Policy. Continued use of the App after any updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Given the nature of the App — fully offline with no data collection — changes to this policy are expected to be infrequent and minor.
